Monsters in Etharis
Many creatures hunt the nights of Etharis.
While many are twisted beasts of hatred born from darkness, some were not always so.

Individuals who transform into beings of the night, transform rarely choose. Instead, they have it forced upon them. Foul curses, horrific experiments, and the diabolical machinations of fiends, vampires, and other dark agents are all examples of how a character might start a transformation. However, there are times when a character may wish to begin a transformation of their own volition. Perhaps they have succumbed to the lure of power, or they see it as the only way to achieve a greater goal.

Monster flaws vary some have more some have left but always a minimum of one and maximum at 4.
Flaws are Roleplay Fluff but it up to you to honor them.
Powers are up to you create consider species and class when doing, so. When it doubt ask.
Players who create a monster outright without transforming though roleplay, start MAX Stage.
Enrollment will close when a species is deemed to have enough members but you may still pursue a transformation IC.

Guidelines
Monsters
Monsters are a type of Limited Character while there is no application for those listed above and anyone may play or become one there are a few requirements that come with the decision to play one, if you do not agree with these requirements it is recommended to check the regular species page for a alternative (i.e instead of lycantrope, choose Wulven instead) :

-
Monsters come with an activity commitment. If a character is not being played regularly, after a roughly a month of inactivity and no notice to staff, eventually their character will be deactivated.
-
You may make one (1) Monster out of your 3 Character slots.
-
Many of the Existing Monsters, have flaws that compromise it's right to life and that is simply how it is.
-
Any approved - Extra Monster, or non listed monster will always have a flaw, that when they are defeated in combat, they must roll on the "Grievous Wounds" table, and honor the outcome playing out the recovery or death.

The Masquerade
Monsters acting as agents of chaos blend into civilization by keeping their abilities muted and their behavior steady, nudging events from the shadows while appearing like any other traveler. Over time, some choose to reveal more of themselves in secret to trusted peoples —either because they genuinely want to live well among mortals or because they were once human and still carry pieces of that life. Others stay hidden behind polite masks, letting their true nature surface only when it serves their purpose. The key is simple: look ordinary, act predictable, and let the world decide for itself whether you’re a threat, an ally, or just another strange soul passing through.

But what they do not do is prance about the city in their true forms. Save for during the Blood Hour when the hunt begins for those unfortunate enough to be caught outside.

Perception, Morality, and City Presence
These rules do not imply that monsters are innately evil. Though in the vast majority of cases they do lean towards the side of some sort of evil alignment.

Monsters are seen as potential threats, not villains by default.

Some intelligent monsters those able to reason may work to foster a good relationship with society with time and may eventually reveal themself. But that does not save them from new comers who know nothing about them. Be on Guard!
A dire wolf may live peacefully near a village, but if a child wanders into its den, the villagers will see danger—not nuance.

Monsters can enter the city—some masquerade be it by costume or transformation, some are tolerated, and some are simply bold. Their reception depends on behavior and perceived threat level.

Removing a Transformation
Characters who end up transforming into one of the listed monsters above. Can sometimes be cured. But many cannot be save by for the power of a Wish Spell. (aka, talk to staff ), You will also need staff to update your species on the meter.
Finally, there is a 33 percent chance that your character will be unable to benefit from a wish ever again.

Reversable
-
Hag, is one of the few that can be reversed, especially when it is bestowed via a curse rather than sought, but only in its first two stages. But, once the creature travels too far down the path of maddening power, the grip will become too strong. (Contact staff for full details)
-
Seraph, can be removed at any time by relinquishing divinity assuming they have not fallen from the path and become corrupted, as a warrior retires their sword when the war is over. Regaining such power may not be so easy

Once one of following character types reach Stage 1, they would need a Wish spell.
-
Aberrant Horror, cannot be removed by normal or even typical magical means. Some magic might slow or halt the mutations that the character endures.
-
The hold of the Fey over a mortal being is strong, but it’s even stronger when the mortal begins to show signs of Fey heritage. The rituals to reverse the Fey Transformation are dangerous and rarely successful.
-
Lycanthropy
-
Primordial, once a spark has taken hold, your mortal body will continue to deteriorate from the roiling elements it now tries to contain. You will inevitably become one with the elements, your soul pulled into the Elemental Plane.
-
Shadowsteel Ghoul
-
Spector, You cannot be revived or restored by any magic lesser than the Wish spell. Once you die completely and your soul departs, you may be brought back to life by more conventional magic, free of the Transformation.
-
Vampire.

Even a Wish Spell will not work for the following and require something specific or are simply irreversible, document you roleplay to present to staff.
-
Fiend, Only once you perform a deed of incredible sacrifice or atonement could such magic remove your Transformation.
-
Lich, The amount of raw magical energy that goes into becoming a Lich means that undoing it is impossible.
-
Ooze, Irreversable

Factions & Roles
-
Monsters who can blend- in within society may infiltrate cities to join or even lead an official city organization or hold city leadership roles.
-
A gauging crystal will reveal hidden monsters, if tried by the local government .
