Humans remain the most adaptable of mortals, yet they appear in several distinct forms. The Trueborn are the native stock, builders of cities and traditions across countless generations. The Curseborn carry ancient afflictions that awaken a beast within, walking the line between control and instinct. The Aasimar bear subtle marks of radiant heritage, embodying mortal flesh touched by light. The Kalashtar are bound to dream-echoes, their minds sharpened by otherworldly resonance while their bodies remain human.

Alongside them stand the Otherworlders, drawn into this realm through summoning, reincarnation, or fate. They bring upheaval, new knowledge, and perspectives that can shift the balance of power. Whether rising as heroes or conquerors, they carry the burden of two lives — the one they left behind, and the new one they now forge.

Human

Humans are as varied as they are numerous, and they endeavor to achieve as much as they can in the years they are given. Their ambition and resourcefulness are commended, respected, and feared across many realms.

Humans are as diverse in appearance as the people of Earth, and they have many gods. Scholars dispute the origin of humanity, but one of the earliest known human gatherings is said to have arisen in a great crossroads city, a place where countless cultures met and the shared tongue of mortals first took shape. From there, humanity spread outward to every corner of the world, carrying with them the spirit of exchange, adaptation, and cosmopolitan ideals that continue to define their kind

Aasimar

Aasimar (pronounced AH-sih-mar) are mortals who carry a spark of the divine realms within their souls. Whether descended from an celestial being or simply infused with celestial power, they can fan that spark to bring light, healing, and heavenly fury. They resemble their parents, but have features that hint at their celestial heritage, such as metallic freckles, luminous eyes, a halo, or the skin color of an angel (silver, opalescent green, or coppery red). These features start subtle and become obvious when the aasimar learns to reveal their full celestial nature.

Aasimar come in three variants. Wings are never Permanent. Protector Aasimar are charged by the powers of good to guard the weak, to strike at evil wherever it arises, and to stand vigilant against the darkness. From a young age, a protector Aasimar receives advice and directives that urge to stand against evil. Transformation: You can unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing your eyes to glimmer and two luminous, incorporeal wings to sprout from your back for a short time. Fallen Aasimar are those who was touched by dark powers as a youth or who turns to evil in early adulthood can become one of the fallen — a group of Aasimar whose inner light has been replaced by shadow. Transformation: You can unleash the divine energy within yourself, corrupted as it may be, causing your eyes to turn into pools of darkness and two skeletal (flightless), ghostly (flightless), black tattered feathered, or bat-like wings sprout from your back, temporarily. Scourge aasimar are imbued with a divine energy that blazes intensely within them. It feeds a powerful desire to destroy evil — a desire that is, at its best, unflinching and, at its worst, all-consuming. Many scourge aasimar wear masks to block out the world and focus on containing this power, unmasking themselves only in battle. Transformation: You unleash the divine energy within yourself, causing a searing light to radiate from you, pour out of your eyes and mouth.

Curseborn

Curseborn are humans afflicted with lycanthropy, a transformative curse that binds them to beast form under conditions such as moonlight, emotional stress, or ritual activation. Often, feared and misunderstood, the curse is not inherently evil.  Curseborn often serve as scouts or guardians, or swear oaths to factions that tolerate or exploit their condition. The curse manifests in different strains, each with unique behaviors and triggers, Bloodmoons and supermoons being a trigger for all. Even so, they are not mindless—many can speak and reason while transformed, with practice and experience.

Known Lycanthropic Strains: Lupine Curse – Wolf Associated with ancestral packs and heightened lunar sensitivity Tora Curse – Tiger Linked to guardian spirits and temple-bound bloodlines Ursan Curse – Bear Slow to provoke, but physically overwhelming when triggered Veran Curse – Wild Boar Territorial and aggressive; often triggered by rage or injury Tsuru Curse – Giant Crane Rare and sorrow-bound; transformation often tied to grief or loss Pardus Curse – Clouded Leopard Agile and stealthy; passed through bloodline contracts and secluded rites Chiroptera Curse – Giant Bat Echolocative; triggered by blood scent, or sonic resonance

kalashtar.jpg

Kalashtar

Kalashtar (pronounced kal-ASH-tar) are created from the union of humanity and renegade spirits called quori from the Oneiric Expanse. Kalashtar are a variant human, but their spiritual connection affects them in a variety of ways. They have symmetrical, slightly angular features, and their eyes often glow when they are concentrating or expressing strong emotions.

Kalashtar can’t communicate directly with their quori spirits. Rather, kalashtar might experience them as a source of instinct and inspiration, drawing on the spirits’ memories when the kalashtar sleep. This connection grants kalashtar minor psionic abilities, as well as protection from psionic attacks.

Otherworlders

Otherworlders, are human anomalies from beyond Xalthea, carrying foreign knowledge. Some rise as heroes, others simply as adventurers.

They arrive in different ways—summoned by magic, intercepted at death and given new life, or reincarnated into new forms (human, demi-human, or even monster). Some retain full memories of their past lives, while others only fragments.

Click for Otherworlder Guidelines Summons always originate from Earth (real-world), not another anime.  Characters that are summoned, are “Summoned Without Witness,” meaning they appear in Xalthea without guidance or explanation. Do not use the name of the sim in roleplay, this is a OOC explanation and term/name is not a IC term. Retaining your old body marks you as an Otherworlder; being born of this world makes you Xalthean. If your concept falls outside these parameters, check with the owner to see how it can fit.
